Activities

A territory that is lucky to host such mountains as the Pelmo and Civetta can only offer the best in terms of alpine climbs and walks. The uniqueness and appeal of the Valley of Zoldo is also, however, in its lesser known peaks. These can provide true experiences of novel and wild exploration to those who love mountains.
There are routes and tracks for all tastes and abilities, welcoming huts along the way, plenty of walks and break-stops in woods, to be enjoyed in harmony with nature and surrounded by the tranquillity of mountain landscapes. In winter time, the Civetta Ski Resort is not only known for its ski slopes. It also offers cross country skiing, arduous routes for alpine skiers, Nordic ski tracks and pleasant walks for snowshoe lovers, these all allowing one to relax to the extend required.

Mount Rite: on foot, mountain bike or with snowshoes...

In Summer or in Winter...
On foot, mountain bike or with snowshoes...

One would not define Mount Rite (2183m) as a beautiful mountain. From its peak, however, it provides a stunning 360° view of the dolomites, including Mount Antelao, the Tofana di Rozes, the Pelmo, the Civetta, and the Bosconero.
It was because of its strategic position, set between the Cadore area and the Valley of Zoldo, that Mount Rite was chosen as a area of military defence, complete with army barracks, observatory and gunner points, these blending aptly into the mountainous landscape. However, from there, few gunshots were fired as the front line was shifted shortly after the set up. Nevertheless, the place remains a valuable source of information and evidence on First World War military defence strategy. Today, the structure is open for viewing to all, as the premises of Reinhold Messner's Museum in the Clouds, open during the whole summer season.
