Activities

A territory that is lucky to host such mountains as the Pelmo and Civetta can only offer the best in terms of alpine climbs and walks. The uniqueness and appeal of the Valley of Zoldo is also, however, in its lesser known peaks. These can provide true experiences of novel and wild exploration to those who love mountains.
There are routes and tracks for all tastes and abilities, welcoming huts along the way, plenty of walks and break-stops in woods, to be enjoyed in harmony with nature and surrounded by the tranquillity of mountain landscapes. In winter time, the Civetta Ski Resort is not only known for its ski slopes. It also offers cross country skiing, arduous routes for alpine skiers, Nordic ski tracks and pleasant walks for snowshoe lovers, these all allowing one to relax to the extend required.

The mount Civetta via ferratas

...your efforts will undoubtedly be rewarded!

This is a hard hike, not only because there are two via ferratas but also because there is a large change in gradient during the walk. It is advisable to be undertaken by experienced and fit individuals.

ITINERARY

Park your car in the area of Le vare, along the road SS 347 to Passo Duran and from there, take the little road on the right, track n°557. Sometimes, the road is open to cars as far as the Casera della Grava (1627 m).
Continue along the mule track until you reach the Grava fork (1846m). At this point, the mountain track begins and reaches the basement of Mount Civetta after a 200 metres rise. The path then reaches the Ferrata of the Alleghesi, maintaining the same altitude along the whole way. Here, it is wise to put on the a harness, equipped with all the necessary safety gear (ropes, dispensers, etc), in order to set off safely on one of the most beautiful, extended and interesting Ferratas of the Dolomites.
To be able to stay on the main track, where the permanent metal cable, nor the metal ladder inlayed in the rock are not present, it suffices to follow the red markings along the way. The route is long and steep for quite a while, until you reach the half way point at the crag of the Punta Civetta.
Following on, you walk on a ledge, and here you may get the feeling you are caught between sky and mountain. The view is amazing and the verticality gives a vertiginous feeling. You can then proceed, alternating between equipped tracks and easy rocky paths, as far as the summit at 3220 m. At the summit, you can descend along a scree towards the Torrani mountain hut (2984 m). Beyond the hut, you keep to the right, on the Van delle Sasse, where you reach the via ferrata A. Tissi. This is a more technical and exposed Ferrata than the previous one. It requires vast amounts of attention, particularly when descending.
Once at the end of the Via Ferrata, you can take the path on the left, back to the fork of the Sasse (2476m) and then to the fork of the Grava, track number 558, and from there, head back to the car.
Total time 8/10h - gradient change 1800 m.
